On my days off...
I cook.
And cook.
With some laundry and baking thrown in.
Here is proof that the kids help...
Chicken pot pies...
All from scratch...
Even the whole wheat crust...
One of our favorites and they freeze really well!
Yummy!
If you haven't started cooking and freezing meals...
Why not?
I can't even tell you how much this has helped me.
I'm working on a post about the nitty gritty about how to do this and also how much this will benefit your family...both financially and nutrition wise.
Stay tuned...
I wish I could! We're still in an apartment with only a tiny above fridge freezer. I think it'll be the best present David could get me when I get a big ol' freezer someday.
ReplyDeleteFreezer cooking is something I really want to try but don't have a clue where to start. Would love your tips and tricks.

Yum, Yum, Yummy! I make a great chicken pot pie.. I never thought about making more than one and freezing. Glad to hear they freeze well.. how do you prepare for the freezer? Foil?
ReplyDeleteYep- although we tend to do it the lazy way - just make bigger portions (like make 2 briskets instead of 1 or quadruple the waffle recipe) and freeze the excess. But it adds up fast in the freezer! We have a good stockpile.
ReplyDeleteFor me the trick has been finding a freezer cooking recipe we can sample that does not make enough for an army- in case we don't like it or think it needs tweaking.
I love freezer cooking. Sure makes me feel good on a hectic day that I can still feed my family something nourishing and homemade.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE a post on this! I have 6 kids to feed and am constantly trying to figure out what freezes well and what doubles and triples well (and that they'll eat!). Thanks for your inspiration!
